Student Information System of Saint Mary's Academy

The study aims to develop the Student Information System of Saint Mary's Academy. Specifically, to identify the problem encountered in the existing process of managing student information as to academic and billing records and monitoring of students' arrival and departure; to develop the Student Information System using Rapid Application Model; and to determine the level of usability of the developed system. The researchers used descriptive and developmental methods to organize the presentation, description and interpretation of the data gathered. In developing the Student Information System (SIS), the researchers utilized Visual Basic 6.0 and MySQLyog using Rapid Application Development Model as their guide, whereas, Computer System Usability Questionnaire (CSUQ) was employed to determine the level of usability of the developed system. Respondents of the study were 12 faculty members, staff, 10 parents and 342 students. The salient findings of the study are as follows: (1) Saint Mary's Academy of Agoo, La Union encountered problems in managing students' academic records, billing, and monitoring students' arrival and departure such as inefficient retrieval and updating on students' records, slow process of generating reports, and limited storage of records; (2) the Student Information System of Saint Mary's Academy was developed utilizing the Rapid Application Development (RAD) Model where RFID, Visual Basic 6.0, and SQLYog were applied; and (3) the developed Student Information System was perceived as usable by the respondents having an average weighted mean of 4.10.
