Development and Usability of the Mobile Herbal Medicines Guide Application

The study aimed to develop an android mobile guide application on herbal medicines. Specifically, it sought to attain these objectives: (1) to identify the perception of the respondents about herbal medicines, (2) to develop an android mobile herbal medicines guide application using the Incremental Build Model, and (3) to determine the level of usability of the mobile application. Descriptive and developmental methods were utilized. The researchers used survey questionnaire adapted from Drugs and Therapeutics Bulletin Survey on Herbal Medicines. Residents from a sitio in Pangasinan were the respondents of the study since they still believe in herbal medicines. The mobile Herbal Medicines Guide Application was developed using the Incremental Build Model with phases substantial in the development, and tested its usability using the System Usability Scale. With this method, the researchers identified the perceptions of the respondents about the different herbal medicines, that family is the biggest contributor of knowledge on using herbal medicines, and that herbal medicines are less dangerous, and with fewer side effects. Also, results suggested that the use of herbal remedies is helpful. Further, the use of the Incremental Build Model proved suitable in the development of the application which was found to be usable based on the results of 3.99 grand mean.
