Innovations have constantly become a trend as modernization takes place. This study aims to incorporate innovations in the manual way of checking the examinations. Specifically, the study aims to determine the needed requirements, to develop a scanning application that checks the test papers of students and to determine its level of usability. The researchers used descriptive and developmental method of research wherein they have conducted an interview to the faculty members of the College of Computer Science to identify the requirements, utilized the Web Development Life Cycle (WDLC) and Optical Character Recognition as a guide in developing the web application, and, lastly, administered survey questionnaire using the System Usability Scale to determine the usability. As a result, the features that were integrated in the application were the data gathered from the interview which includes the following: (1)Add, edit and delete student information; (2) Categorized exam into quiz or major exam; (3)Set the passing rate; (4)Compute the equivalent grade; (5)Sort students according to their equivalent grade per exam; (6)Add, edit and delete key answers; (7)Generate templates for answer sheet; and (8) Generate reports on summary of students' equivalent percentage of exam score.. These features are the basic tools in the development of scanning application to work efficiently. It also proved the effectiveness of WDLC and accuracy of the Optical Character Recognition in developing a scanning application. Finally, the scanning application was proven usable with a mean rating of 4.02.
